What they needed
Aberdeenshire Library had over 25,000 pages of the Fraserburgh Herald newspaper spanning the period 1884 to 1920.
They wanted an online system that would allow the newspapers to be easily viewable for the public.
What we did
We kicked off the project by scanning and indexing the Fraserburgh Herald newspaper. We then built a fully digitised online archiving system.
The online tool includes intelligent search functionality to retrieve content by date and/or keywords.
It also integrates within the Aberdeenshire Libraries website, making it available to the public and enabling registered members to leave comments against the archived newspapers.
Having a centralised online tool made the digitalised newspaper library very easily accessible.
"We are all delighted with the layout, functionality, design and engineering of the interface."
